• Dirty Cop: Once Chris starts gaining real power with his hall monitor position, he becomes increasingly petty and corrupt.
• Drunk with Power: Chris gets a bit too comfortable with the idea of having power in an environment where he'd usually be pushed around.
• He Who Fights Monsters: Normally, Chris is the designated Butt-Monkey No-Respect Guy, even moreso than Greg because he's black. Once he becomes a hall monitor, he slowly gets more corrupt and assertive, as he finally has that dominance he sought after, punishing several students as payback for mistreating him before or during the first stint as hall monitor.
• I Did What I Had to Do: Chris writes Greg up for roaming the halls without a pass. While he technically has to do it as part of his duties, this is during his descent into crookedness.
• Pay Evil unto Evil: Chris gives Caruso a citation for nothing, but considering all of the abuse Caruso gives Chris unprovoked, he's only reaping what he's sowing.
• Reasonable Authority Figure: The hall monitor before Chris takes over is this, as he holds no malice towards Chris for being black, just firmly tells him to get to class after he saves him from Caruso.
