Recap / Empath: The Luckiest Smurf - The New Shop In The Village

Go To

Around the time of Psycheliana's 100th birthday, when a new strain of smurfnip is developed that produces only the high but not also the hallucinations, and thus smurfnip is finally legalized in the Smurf Village, Chatty and Nosey Smurf decide to open an equivalent to a "coffee and pot shop" in the village called The Wake N Bake Brew Shop, which was intended to be a morning-only shop for those who want to enjoy some smurfnip at the start of the day, but eventually became an evening shop that is competing with the business of Tapper's Tavern for customers.

The story is preceded by a mini-story called "A Green Cloud Of Victory".

This story provides the following examples of:

  • Drugs Are Bad: Empath has a dream that, since he as the current Smurf Village leader has now legalized smurfnip, the whole village has succumbed to the lure of doing all sorts of drugs, and most of its Smurfs have turned into "the walking dead" because of it.
  • Drugs Are Good: Empath visits The Wake N Bake Brew Shop during its evening hours and simply sees that the Smurfs in it are simply having a peaceful night of enjoying smurfnip and desserts.
  • Fantastic Arousal: Empath and Smurfette having an intimate moment of "getting under each other's hats".
  • Fantastic Drug: Besides smurfnip, there are moonberries that cause the Smurfs who are high on it to start eating the roof of The Wake N Bake in the belief that Smurf houses are made of mushrooms that can cause hallucinations when eaten.
  • Getting High on Their Own Supply: Chatty and Nosey, as well as their wives, were getting high off their own supply of smurfnip during the time The Wake N Bake Brew Shop was open at night.
  • Magic Mushroom: Played with in this story with the Smurfs under the influence of the moonberries eating the roof of The Wake N Bake Brew Shop.
  • Slippery Slope Fallacy: Tapper and Duncan McSmurf both subscribe to the idea that if smurfnip is legalized, then it would be a matter of time before other drugs are legalized as well.
