Recap / Dinotrux S 04 E 01 Pteracopters

Go To

After a pack of Pteracopters crash into the crater, the Dinotrux agree to help lead a mission to rescue one of their fallen teammates.

Tropes:

  • Cliffhanger: The rescue is a success, but the Trux are lost on the return trip and end up in a mysterious new place.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: For the rescue mission, the Trux bring a bunch of previous items with them:
  • Continuity Creep: This episode starts a multi episode arc for the season, something that has not really been done before and something that will become more common throughout the series.
  • Continuity Nod: When the Pteracopters crash into the crater, Ton-Ton is desperate to protect the Trux Wash, citing that they just replaced it.
  • Laser Hallway: Stealth Scrapadactyls see by detecting movement with their lasers, making the process of getting past patrols of them undetected reminiscent of one of these.
  • Magic Feather: With Washout too scared to fly, Click-Clack motivates him to action by giving him his lucky bit. When Washout loses the bit, Click-Clack convinces Washout that the luck isn't real. While Click-Clack admits he was lying to save himself, he also admits he convinced himself that the luck wasn't real, too.
  • No-Sell: Ty hopes to out-stealth the Stealth Scrapadactyls by becoming Shadow Ty, but they detect via lasers rather than vision rendering a black coat of paint useless against them.
  • Throwing the Distraction: The Trux throw pieces of scrap metal to distract the Scrapadactyls.
  • Unlucky Thirteen: Washout refuses to take off because of his superstitious nature and him counting 13 Stealth Scrapadactyls after them. He accepts Click-Clack's Magic Feather speech partially because the number of Scrapadactyls has gone down and the bad luck has been decreased.
