Recap / Digimon Ghost Game E56 "Impurity"

Go To

Hiro, Gammamon and Espimon wake up to see Kotaro acting oddly. He has soulless eyes, unnatural movements and speech patterns, he's washing his face non-stop and Gammamon fails to recognize him as Kotaro. Shortly after, Hiro and Ruli find Mika acting in the same bizarre way. Kiyoshiro calls Hiro about the abnormalities only for the call to be cut, and then nearly everyone in town becomes affected, obsessively cleaning every single part of the streets and dumping all of their personal belongings on the road. Even worse, Hiro finds himself confronting an incredibly powerful reality-warping Ultimate-level Digimon bent on "exorcising"/killing at least dozens that she believes are "impure"...

  • Graceful Loser: Kuzuhamon is defeated by Siriusmon. Rather than desperately fight back, she calls off her exorcism ritual and returns her victims back into their bodies.
  • Kill It with Fire: Kuzuhamon's ultimate goal in getting rid of humanity's "impurities", no matter how small it may be, is to burn every human alive after purging them of both their sins and their material possessions.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Not only Kuzuhamon is way more stronger than anything fought beforehand, being an Ultimate and all, she's more than willing to kill an entire town worth of people out of a belief that they are "impure" and won't back off without a fight (unlike Piemon). Past her episode, other actual Ultimate-level Digimon start to show up and instigate deadly incidents, each of them which like her, show themselves as threats capable of laying the hurt to hundreds, are seemingly impervious to attacks from their lesser brethren and routinely put our heroes to potentially life-threatening situations.
  • Sin Eater: Kuzuhamon is a Digimon who seeks to cleanse all humans of their "impurities" by extracting it from their bodies, leaving them as zombie-like wooden marionettes who become obsessed with making everyone and everything around them clean. This is creepy enough, but Kuzuhamon's idea of impurities are rather absurd, like arriving late to meet a friend and dirtying a library book.
  • Wham Episode: Not only Hiro's Gammamon awakens his Ultimate form, Siriusmon in this episode, after being defeated Kuzuhamon tells him that there's something or someone sending all these Digimon in.
  • Zombie Gait: People who are "exorcised" by Kuzuhamon have an unnatural, sluggish gait, best seen when the brainwashed Aoi and Mika attacks Ruli and Angoramon.
