Legion of Doom is the 42nd episode of DC Universe Online

Synopsis:

Perpetua, a deadly being that was trapped within the Source Wall, is finally free. Recruiting some of the galaxy's deadliest villains, this new Legion of Doom seeks to spread Doom to tip the scales of balance to evil so that she can rewrite the Multiverse. Heroes and villains in kind must unite to prevent this threat to pass.

Tropes Used:

  • Adaptational Deviation: Many between this episode and the storyline DC Year of the Villain:
    • The Murder Machine had long since died before the event happened. Here, he's aiding the Batman Who Laughs in aiding Perpetua.
  • Alternate Universe Reed Richards Is Awesome: The 6th Dimension versions of Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen serve as wardens of the 6th Dimensional Prison.
  • The Dragon: Initially Lex Luthor was this to Perpetua. But after his failure, he is soon replaced with the Batman who laughs.
  • False Reassurance:
    • Upon Sinestro's defeat, Perpetua states that he still has a place. As part of her throne! From his reaction, this is definitely not a good thing.
    • Sinestro then begs for Lex Luthor to help him.
Lex Luthor: Oh I'll help you... Clean up the mess that you made.
  • Foreshadowing: The 6th Dimension Superman is able to use Superflare repeatedly, despite supposing to drain him of his powers after use. This hints that Superman is not all that he seems.
  • Hope Crusher: The overall plan for the Legion of Doom is to drive the people to the Despair Event Horizon, making it easier for Luthor's screens to brainwash them into serving Perpetua and fueling her power. Upon freeing them, some desperately ask if the heroes will be able save them all.
  • I Let You Win: Turns out defeating and capturing the Batman who Laughs in the previous episode was all part of his plan to gain access to the League Hall, which the Murder Machine hacks.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: The 6th Dimension version of Lois Lane is pissed at the World Forger after revealing that he kept "perfecting" the world blueprint rather than stop Perpetua, as it result in seeing her son being "remade" multiple times. As he escapes, she willingly tells his pursuers where he has gone, even telling them to "kick his ass."
  • Rank Up: Ultra Violet is treated as this for Sinestro, as it is shown to be stronger than Yellow, as its emotion is their victim's deepest fear.
  • You Have Failed Me: For his failure, Perpetua takes the Source powers from Lex Luthor.
