Alpha Male
A disfiigured man throws acid in people's faces. Reid makes a friend who is also an incarcerated federal agent.
Tropes:
- Arc Words: "Et disperdam illud!" [meaning: "And I will destroy it"]
- As the Good Book Says...: The UnSub shout a Bible verse in Latin as he throws acid in his victims' faces.
- Bookworm: Calvin has library privileges. He offers to lend books for Reid, who won't get them while he's there.
- Captain Obvious: After reading the website nomeansyes.net, Garcia feels the need to clarify that by "yes" she means "yes".
- Mistaken for Racist: White prisoners who feel that them being a minority on the inside necessitates racism, assume Reid will agree with their point of view and join their prison gang.
- Plot Parallel: While an UnSub is demonstrating his "alpha maleness" by throwing acid in pretty people's faces, Reid's fellow inmates are demonstrating their machismo by assaulting and threatening him.
- Pretentious Latin Motto: The UnSub has one.
- Scary Black Man: Zigzagged with Calvin. He looks intimidating as he’s staring at Reid across the prison yard, but he turns out to be friendly. He saves Reid from getting attacked by a gang of inmates and he offers to lend Reid whatever books he wants.
- Smart People Know Latin: Luke knows a bit of Latin from his twelve years of Catholic school.
