Assistance Is Futile
A psychopath who likes the sound of bones breaking has had a bad reaction to his LSD treatment and gone off the deep end. Reid tries to help another inmate who claims to be innocent as well, but this leaves him vulnerable to people who demand that he deliver drugs for them.
Tropes in this episode:
- Acoustic License: No one seems to hear a word said in the conversation between Reid and JJ, despite them just sitting on opposite sides of a table next to other pairs of inmates and visitors.
- Artistic License – Law: JJ talks about an ongoing case within earshot of prisoners. Seems like a particularly bad idea since Reid doesn't want to tip anyone off that he's FBI.
- Pun-Based Title: The episode title is a pun on the phrase "resistance is futile", pointing to how pointless it is for Reid to try to help people where he is now.
