The crew must find the killer of Ben Feldman, who in 2008 was the under Witness Protection Program at the time, before his vengeful son does.
Tropes:
- Affably Evil: Vinnie is a former mobster, but is nothing but friendly to the detectives and is a loving father to his daughter Tammy. He also happens to be Ben's killer, shooting him when Ben refuses to help him find Tammy after she seemingly ran off with Jeff.
- Deliberate Values Dissonance: Vinnie, a former mobster, had traditional values, and believed his daughter should stay home with him until she graduated college and married, which is why he went all Papa Wolf (see spoiler below) when he thought she was running off with Jeff to go globetrotting.
- Irony: Twice, to the killer. He was an ex-con trying to rebuild a honest life for himself and his daughter. He ended up murdering because he though Ben’s son was trying to run off with his daughter. 5 seconds after the shot was fired and Ben fell dead, the killer got a call from his daughter that she was studying with some friends.
- Misplaced Retribution:
- Jeff tries to shoot the mob boss because he thinks he’s responsible for his dad’s death, despite no evidence. He’s wrong.
- Vinnie shot Ben because the latter wouldn’t tell him where his son was. Vinnie thought his daughter Tammy was going to run off with Jeff, and blamed Ben for letting Jeff run off.
- Moral Myopia: Leigh yells at her husband for forcing them to relocate, then has an affair with the WPP agent who relocated them.
- Papa Wolf: An ugly side is seen when Vinnie shoots Ben in retaliation for Jeff trying to run off with Tammy.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Vinnie's daughter Tammy went off to hang with friends without informing her father. Being a paranoid mafioso, Vinnie thought she ran off with Jeff and confronted his father Ben, who genuinely not know about his whereabouts. Vinnie decided that Ben is lying for Jeff and shoots him dead, merely seconds before his daughter ran him. Now with his father dead, Jeff thought the mob boss he was testifying against did it and took upon himself to assassinate him in revenge.
