When an old flame of Vera states that a fraternity was involved in her sister's death, the team reopen the 1995 case of Sloane Easton, a struggling alcoholic divorced mother whose death was originally ruled as an accident.
Tropes:
- Bad Samaritan: The last person Sloane contacted in the after-hours was someone from Alcoholics Anonymous who harbored perverted desire for her.
- Death by Falling Over: Subverted. The police thought that Sloane died after falling down drunk and hitting her head.
- "Mister Sandman" Sequence: Sloane mentions Tanya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan.
- The Mole: Sloane was an informant and the bar where she worked was a front for drug trafficking and dog fights.
- Parental Neglect: Sloane ditched her kids at a fast food joint for five hours while she was hitting the bars.
- Snow Means Death: Sloane died of hypothermia after being unconscious outside in the open in snowy weather.
- Trauma Conga Line: Sloane renounced her rights to her children, sexually debased herself to keep her job and take in Ravage, feared she lost Ravage not long after when he chased off a creep, and finally she was taken advantage of and murdered by someone that she thought could help her.
