Recap / Code Prime - R1: Rebellion, 18 "What is Justice?"

Go To

Lelouch, Rai, and Kallen separately reflect on the aftermath of Narita; with encouragement from the Autobots, they vow to fight on, starting with rescuing General Katase and the JLF from Britannian-Decepticon forces and launching a surprise attack. Meanwhile, under Megatron's machinations, Suzaku becomes the First Human Decepticon, and Shirley secretly follows Lelouch to Port Yokosuka, where she makes a shocking discovery.

  • Armor-Piercing Response: When Ratchet asks a guilt-ridden Lelouch if he still intends to continue despite a friend losing a loved one because of him, Lelouch angrily questions Ratchet if he has room to talk, as he was a doctor, not a soldier, and that he doesn't know what death is. Ratchet's saddened and angry retort refutes Lelouch's accusation, much to the young revolutionary's honest shock.
Ratchet: Just because I'm a medic doesn't mean I don't know what death is! I've had more than my fair share of patients die on my operating table! And I've been on the battlefield and I've seen fresh carnage with my own optics! I couldn't even repair Bumblebee's voice box!
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Kallen and Rai learn that Suzaku is the pilot of the Lancelot and is with the Decepticons.
    • In an attempt to avenge her 'deceased' father, Shirley discovers Zero's identity as Lelouch. Villetta also makes the discovery, but is shot by Bumblebee before she could carry out her ambitions.
  • Not His Sled: Bumblebee is the one to shoot Villetta instead of Shirley in the canon, though Shirley is still traumatized from the events.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Thanks to the Autobots and Black Knights evacuating General Katase and the JLF via Groundbridge before the attack, Katase and his men survive this chapter, unlike in canon.
  • Unreliable Narrator: Megatron recalls the War for Cybertron to Suzaku, but while he truthfully notes that neither side is completely good or evil, he distorts certain details about it to win over Suzaku's opinions, such as lying about trying to make amends with Optimus even though all of his former friends turned him away for his actions and implying Cybertron was rendered uninhabitable due to the war escalating beyond control even though it was due to Megatron.
  • Villain Has a Point: While he's intending to manipulate Suzaku, Megatron truthfully states that conflicts are not black and white and ideals need a plan to help further them. The first point, however, is less plausible owing to the current conflict with the Autobots and Black Knights having sides which are clearly good and evil.
