Recap / Code Lyoko S 4 E 2

Go To

Jeremy creates a polymorphic specter of himself to go to phys ed class in order to be left to work undistracted on bringing William back from Lyoko. Jeremy’s body double turns out to be far more athletic than the original, to Jim’s considerable surprise. But Xana wrests control of the tower Jeremy used to conjure up his clone, and the imposter now poses a serious threat to our heroes. A battle ensues on the now fully reconstructed Lyoko, featuring new, updated gear for the Lyoko Warriors…

This episode contains examples of:

  • Brick Joke: When the Lyoko Warriors sans Jérémie meet out in the quad, Odd tries and fails to get a cup of coffee from the vending machine, to his frustration. Later, Jérémie's clone appears and when it acts differently from the real Jérémie, Odd attacks it, thinking it was sent by XANA. The clone throws Odd into the vending machine in self-defense, causing a cup to come out of the vending machine and coffee to start pouring, to Odd's delight.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Jérémie's clone turns out to be this, flirting with Yumi. The fact that this is so unlike Jérémie causes the Lyoko Warriors to assume the clone is a XANA attack before Jérémie fills them in. He attributes the clone's personality to "emerging qualities".
  • Death Glare: Ulrich and Aelita both give one when Jérémie's clone shows up and starts flirting with Yumi. It's actually one of the few times Aelita looks visibly furious.
  • Insult Backfire: This exchange after Jérémie's clone inadvertently destroyed Mrs. Hertz model of a reflection telescope:
Suzanne Hertz: Jim! You're worse than the barbarians who burned down the Alexandrian Library!
Jim Moralés: Well, thank you, Suzanne!
  • Just in Time: Odd is virtualized and gets to Yumi on his overboard just as she's about to fall into the Digital Sea.
  • Mid-Season Upgrade: As Jérémie has programmed new digital equipment for the Lyoko Warriors, Ulrich gets a second saber while Aelita gets a pair of angel wings allowing her to fly.
  • Lampshade Hanging: When Mr. Delmas treats William's father's call as a practical joke, Nicole asks him how can he be so sure that that call was a practical joke, and not the previous one (made by Jérémie using the voice synthesizer).
  • No-Sell: Ulrich uses his ability to triplicate while fighting William, but he can easily figure out which copy is the real Ulrich and defeat him. This is probably the reason why this is the last episode in which Ulrich uses this power, despite this being only the second episode of the fourth season.
  • Power Gives You Wings: Jérémie upgrades the Lyoko Warriors' digital avatars, and Aelita gains a pair of angel wings.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: Everyone's Lyoko avatars are given new outfits as part of the upgrades Jeremie made to their equipment.
  • Taking You with Me: After XANA's plan fails, William pushes Yumi into the Digital Sea. However, just as he shoves her, Yumi grabs him and makes him fall along with her. Yumi is saved by Odd but William still falls into the Sea; regardless, due to being under XANA's control, he is unharmed.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: William has a nonverbal reaction akin to this the first time Jérémie reverts the tower back to green with Sector Five energy, completely undoing his work.
