Stranded on Kamine Island, Lelouch and Rai bond with Euphie and Nonette, and in the process disrupt plans they never knew were in motion.
- Accidental Kidnapping: Rai ends up kidnapping Nonette when he escapes in Zerith, as she refuses to let go of him after having waited years to find him.
- Berserk Button: When Tamaki tries to steal a slice of pizza from C.C.'s stash, she nearly sends him to the cryopods in a fit of rage.
- Dragon Hoard: C.C. guarding her stash of pizza is compared to this.
- Five-Second Foreshadowing: When the rest of the Paladins finally pickup Lelouch and Rai's location, Milly complains about something while letting go of C.C.'s hand. Her next lines confirm she formed a contract with the immortal and gained a Geass.
- The Kindnapper: Lelouch was fully willing to return Euphie to Britannia, but when he sees Haggar in the Thought Elevator chamber alongside Schneizel, Bartley, Bartley's forces, Rai, and Nonette, he immediately grabs his hlf sister and gets Zen moving as far away from the island as possible.
- Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: V.V. sent Lelouch and Rai to Kamine Island to eliminate them as threats to his plans. When they escape, Zenobia makes a point of destroying the island's Thought Elevator, much to Victor's horror.
- No One Gets Left Behind: Gino is clearly unhappy with leaving Nonette behind, and almost comes to blows with Bismarck over the decision to allow Nonette to be in the crossfire to defeat Zero.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The Lions usually only act to assist their paladins and rarely do more than intimidate those who threaten them, unless being piloted. Thus, the fact that Zenobia destroyed a Thought Elevator on her own implies there was something seriously wrong with said structure.
- The Reveal:
- We finally learn Rai's full backstory - he's actually Zephyr zar Britannia, son of Charles and Erina Kururugi, and thus Lelouch's half-brother and Suzaku's cousin. Rai, his mother, and his sister were apparently sent to live in Fiji (which is neutral) prior to the Pacific War, with Nonette as their knight. Sometime during the Pacific War, Nonette was recalled to active duty, during which it's implied Rai, Sophoronia, and Erina were abducted by the Galra.
- It's also revealed that the Thought Elevators are what is preventing Zarkon from connecting with the Black Lion and locating Earth.
- Screams Like a Little Girl: Tamaki's response when C.C. attacks him after he swiped a slice of pizza from her stash.
