As Christmas is coming soon, Carl tries to buy Grace a Hotplay album, but accidentally leaves some turkey in the oven which causes his house to burn down and leave him in the hospital.
Tropes:
- Action Pet: Marvin helps to protect Carl from Gooper when the latter holds him at gunpoint with his Bill Blaster.
- Bandage Mummy: Carl ends up like this after the accident described in Disaster Dominoes below.
- Big "WHAT?!": Carrie and Sally react this way when Carl tells them that Santa isn't real.
- Christmas Episode: The first one in the series.
- Disaster Dominoes: Carl's burnt turkey causes the whole house to catch on fire. When Carl tries to put out the fire, he instead ends up falling over, causing him to catch fire as well and spread the fire to the rest of the house. This soon culminates in him running out of the house only to be hit by a car and be left on the pavement where a large canister of gasoline falls onto him, causing him to be hospitalized.
- Look Behind You: Carl manages to escape from Gooper and Mary-Lynn by telling them to look in a different direction, allowing him to run off with the Hotplay album that he wants to buy for Grace.
- Mutilation Conga: When Carl tries to put out the fire that has burst out in his kitchen, he slips right into the kitchen utensils, gets his entire body caught on fire, then his television falls onto him, a car runs him over, and it's all topped off by a canister of gasoline falls on him. All of this results in Carl being hospitalized in a body cast and chastised by his imaginary father for ruining Christmas for everyone.
- Oh, Crap!: This is Carl's reaction when he realizes that he has left the turkey in the oven for too long, causing the kitchen to catch on fire.
- Rapid-Fire "No!": Carl shouts "No!" repeatedly when he sees that his kitchen is on fire.
- The Scrooge: Carl really isn't a big fan of Christmas due to it being the day his grandmother died.
