Recap / Captain N The Game Master S 3 E 7 The Fractured Fantasy Of Captain N

Go To

The N Team arrives on the world of Final Fantasy for a lunch date with a local prince who is friends with Lana. Jealous of all the prince's accomplishments, Captain N is seduced by the promises of power of a guy named Astos, who hypnotizes him into helping drug the prince. The N Team has to track down Astos to save the prince and Kevin.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: The witch can't get anyone's name right.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Captain N, after being hypnotized by Astos' crystal ball.
  • Jerkass Ball: Captain N catches it pretty hard in this episode, getting jealous of all the stuff the prince has/has done. Despite the fact that he himself is The Chosen One who's the single best choice to save an entire dimension.
  • Karma Houdini: Astos. The N Team escape his castle and cure the prince, but he suffers no punishment for all he did.
  • More than Mind Control: It's heavily implied that Kevin's jealousy towards the prince was partially what was controlling him in addition to Astos' hypnosis. The biggest piece of evidence for this is Kevin claiming he's "learned his lesson" once he's freed.
  • One-Winged Angel: Astos is changed to his true form at the end, some kind of bat-faced creature. Unlike in the game, this does not make him any more formidable. Maybe because it happens against his will.
  • Pseudo-Crisis: The Commercial Break Cliffhanger ends with Lana being turned to stone by a witch. But as soon as they come back Kid Icarus just asks "Hey, remember us?" and the witch turns Lana back to normal.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Despite the elf prince being such a good friend of Lana's and such an awesome hero, he's never been mentioned or helped fight Mother Brain before. He doesn't even get a name.
  • Skeleton Key: The one the Light Warriors get as a thank-you for waking up the prince in the game appears.
