"Sláinte" is the 16th episode of Season 8 and the 178th overall. It originally aired April 27, 2012.
The team is faced with a puzzle when dismembered body parts are strategically placed around a neighborhood, and later a car bomb explodes in the same area.

Tropes for the episode:

  • Connect the Deaths: Mac plots the first three locations where body parts are found and discovers that they're corners of the neighborhood formerly known as "Hell's Kitchen." When they search the fourth corner, they find the victim's missing head.
  • Dismembering the Body: A body is dismembered and strewn around: legs on a bench at a bus stop, arms in a newspaper box, torso dumped in a garbage pile.
  • Hidden Wire: One suspect agrees to wear a wire under his shirt to get the real perp to incriminate himself.
  • ISO-Standard Urban Groceries: Downplayed. After Christine chides Mac for not calling her since their kiss, he promises to make it up to her. The car bomb forces him to cancel that date as well. When he finally shows up at her restaurant, he's brought along a little bag of food, intending for them to cook together. We can't see a baguette, but he produces a small one and proceeds to make bruschetta for the two of them.
  • Money Slap: Hand-written check version. A greedy real estate developer becomes a suspect when Sid discovers his signature on the victim's face. He's then shown in flashback taunting the man, a small bodega owner, with a sizable check and literally rubbing it on his face while trying to get the man to sell him his property.
  • Non Fatal Explosion: Flack is just up the block from the van that explodes, but is unharmed.
  • Signed with a Kiss: At a murder scene in a hotel room, Danny & Lindsay find a lipstick kiss on the dresser's mirror. The victim had entertained a prostitute the night before he was killed and had asked her for one more kiss before she left. She kissed the mirror instead of him.
  • Title Drop: Two men use the word to toast each other in an Irish bar (see Trivia page also).
  • Through His Stomach: Downplayed when Mac calls Christine to cancel their dinner date because of the car bomb.
Mac: I really hope I haven't put you out.
Christine: Oh don't be silly, I was just going to whip something up when you got here.
(The camera pulls back to reveal that she has indeed prepared an elaborate meal which is spread all over the counter where she's standing.)
