Go To

An informant tells Officers Baker and Poncherello about Nick Ferris running a car-stripping ring at a nearby warehouse.

After nailing the boss behind it, his attorney pressures John to tell the court who was the informant.

John, steadfast in his choice to not divulge anything concerning the informant, winds up in contempt of court by the judge, and is jailed for it on the spot.

However, shortly after his release, both Ponch and John end up in the hoosegow for the very same reason!

But Sgt. Getraer, Grossman, and the other CHP officers find something that the crook and his lawyer didn't take into account... or get out of...

Tropes seen in this episode:

  • Amoral Attorney: Nick Ferris' attorney tries to pressure John into telling him who is the informant, and much later, then Ponch. They felt the informant needed a lot of protection or the poor guy will be no more.
  • Cement Shoes: The informant knows of this, and tells Ponch and John. And being officers of the law, they make sure to defy this REALLY HARD.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Ah, yes, unpaid illegal parking tickets makes it this guy's Achilles' Heel. Not even his lawyer can get him out of that one!
  • Karma Houdini: The CHP officers never did catch the teens who cut into the truck driver's bags of manure.
  • Slippinginto Stink: Inverted when poor Ponch and John were victims of manure raining down on them. Ugh.
