A virus from a foreign kingdom causes a zombie outbreak in the Koopa Kingdom, leaving Bowser and the Koopalings stuck inside the castle. Trouble arises yet again when the zombies manage to break in. This Halloween Episode is the show's take on the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Tropes:
- And Then John Was a Zombie: Everyone sans Wendy and Larry (who survive), and Ludwig and Junior (who outright get eaten alive) gets turned into a zombie after these break into the castle.
- Butt-Monkey: The first one to get turned into a zombie in the castle is Kamek, who also gets knocked into the lava. Ludwig is also eaten alive by zombies after saving Bowser from one, as Larry and Wendy believed that he was already dead and shut the door to the saferoom before he could enter.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: Junior and Ludwig get eaten alive by the zombies as opposed to being turned into one. However, since the Halloween episodes are non-canon, none of the events here carry over to the next episode.
- Failed a Spot Check:
- No one notices that Kamek is a zombie until he tries to attack Bowser.
- Roy doesn't notice that Camilla has been turned into a zombie and tries to flirt with her. She ends up biting him and he becomes a zombie.
- Find the Cure!: Iggy tries to use the zombified and locked up Kamek for reserach in order to develop a cure. Unfortunately, Kamek breaks free from his cage and bites Iggy, turning him into a zombie. At the end of the episode, a news reporter states that things are slowly going back to normal and work on a vaccine to get the zombies back to normal is being worked on.
- First-World Problems: After Bowser tells Junior that he cannot take him to the park due to the zombie invasion, Junior throws a tantrum over how unfair his life is. Wendy calls him out on this:Wendy: There are children starving in third world countries!
Bowser Jr.: No one's stopping them from playing at the park! - Halloween Episode: It's a Zombie Apocalypse after all.
- I Reject Your Reality: Bowser Jr. refuses to believe his family when they tell him that they can't go outside due to the zombie invasion, but he doesn't believe that and simply wants to go to the park. The instant he opens a door however, he is eaten alive by a group of zombies.
- No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Ludwig saves Bowser from getting eaten alive by zombies, which allows the latter to enter the saferoom with Wendy and Larry... but they forget about Ludwig, who gets eaten alive by zombies. Wendy are Larry simply believe that Ludwig performed a Heroic Sacrifice.
- Too Dumb to Live: Wendy for inviting her friends over to the castle in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, Roy for failing to notice that Camilla had turned into a zombie, which gets him transformed into one after he tries to flirt with her, and Bowser Jr. for ignoring all the warnings he was given and going outside, which gets him eaten alive and causes even more zombies to penetrate the castle.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Wendy decides to invite her friends over to the castle so they can hang out with her. Unfortunately, Camilla is bitten by a zombie along the way, resulting in her becoming a zombie and spreading the infection to the majority of the Koopalings, Lauren, and Ally.
- Visual Pun: Kamek tries to address the issue of the virus that recently hit the kingdom and calls it "the Elephant in The Room". Bowser immedately thinks he's talking about the newest addition to his cabinet, General Snorky, who is literally an elephant, though smaller than the average one.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: By capturing zombie!Kamek and keeping him locked up in his bedroom, Iggy discovers the reason why a zombie bite turns others into zombies and uses him to develop a cure. Unfortunately Kamek breaks free and infects Iggy before he can finish working on his cure.
- Zombie Apocalypse: The episode focuses on the kingdom being overrun by zombies.
- Zombie Infectee: Camilla ends up being bitten by a zombie while she, Lauren and Ally were making their way over to the Koopa castle. Unsurprisingly, she ends up becoming a zombie later in the episode and spreads the virus. At the end of the episode, Larry and Wendy have to lock up Bowser in a cage due to him being bitten by a zombie as he was making his way to the saferoom.
