It's the Spring Fling dance and love is in the air. Brenda and Dylan have sex for the first time at the hotel where the ball is held. Andrea tries to ask Brandon, but stumbles and doesn't quite get the message across. Kelly is more direct and pressures Brandon into going. Steve strikes out and decides to ask Kelly and is jealous of her and Brandon. Kelly says he should ask Donna, and Brandon suggests they all go as friends. At the dance, Brandon and Kelly kiss and a jealous Steve gets drunk. Brandon rejects Kelly, saying he thinks of her more as a sister. After being mean to Kelly, Steve reveals to Brandon that it's his birthday and he's upset because he found out that he's adopted. He told Kelly, but she has forgotten. When she tries to make amends, Steve lashes out and makes her cry. He apologises for his behaviour and they make up. Steve also apologises to Donna for ignoring her and she forgives him. After having a daydream of her future while watching a horror film, Andrea decides to go to the dance after all. When she gets there, Brandon asks her to dance.
