Recap / Batman Wayne Family Adventures Episode 47 Worlds Finest

Go To

Alfred and Superman's human parents meet for dinner, spending the time talking about their children...and ending with Ma Kent yelling at Superman to quit listening in on their conversation.

Tropes:

  • Actually Not a Vampire: Jonathan says that he thought that Batman was a vampire when he first met him, presumably because of his intimidating clothing, his bat motif, and his preference for patrolling in the nighttime. Alfred, amused, says that it's a common initial assumption.
  • Almighty Mom: Superman can fly, shoot lasers from his eyes, and lift vehicles over his head. That doesn't keep him from freaking out when he gets confirmation that Ma Kent knows he's eavesdropping.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: The two superheroes clearly fear that this trope is at work.
  • Gilligan Cut: When Alfred questions if Superman might be listening, Martha yells that her son would never be that rude. Cut to Superman in the Batcave, panicking that his mom knows about his and Bruce's listening in.
  • I'll Pretend I Didn't Hear That: When Alfred mentions that Clark could be eavesdropping from a distance, Ma Kent loudly denies that her son would eavesdrop on his parents and their good friend. The message she's clearly sending, and that Clark receives, is an indirect order for him to cut it out.
  • Impossibly Delicious Food: Alfred brought his famous cookies to dinner. He claims that they're not as good as the pie that Martha bakes for these occasions.
  • Lower-Deck Episode: The comic focuses on Alfred and the Kents and their perspectives on their superhero sons.
  • Made of Iron: Alfred brings up Superman's Nigh-Invulnerability while he and the Kents are talking about their sons' chosen paths, saying that he wishes Bruce were even a fraction as indestructible. The Kents answer that it doesn't matter that Clark usually can't be hurt; they're parents and they still worry.
