Tropes

  • Illness Blanket: When Jason's PTSD and a triggering sound give him a flashback to his murder at Joker's hands, Tim grabs him a weighted blanket to help ground him in the present which Jason wears for most of the rest of the episode.
  • Impairment Shot: After hearing the tire iron being scraped across the floor Jason's POV looking towards Stephanie is shown, where he's got shaky double vision and is seeing a crowbar in her hand rather than the tire iron she's handing him.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Stephanie scrapes a socket wrench onto the floor which triggers Jason's PTSD over his death by crowbar from the Joker.
  • The Internet Is for Cats: After Jason is shaken by a flashback to his murder Stephanie offers her support of him in the form of cute and amusing cat videos on her smart phone and her company watching them. She says Damian and Barbara helped her curate the watch list.
  • Mental Health Recovery Arc: Jason is recovering from the trauma of his murder, with his family's love and support, which is highlighted in these episodes. As Alfred says, "Remember, there's no timetable for healing. Do what you need to do."
  • Mood Whiplash: Steph, Tim and Jason are laughing, and joking around with Tim getting flustered after tripping over a tire iron Jason left on the floor. Then Jason is thrown into a traumatic flashback of his murder and digging out of his grave when the sound of Steph picking up the tire iron sounds the same as when the Joker tauntingly scraped the crowbar he beat him with across the floor.
  • Multi-Part Episode: "Strong Enough" is split into two parts, making up episodes 45 and 46.
  • Sinister Scraping Sound: To Stephanie, her scraping a socket wrench sounds fine. To Jason, it just reminds him of that moment Joker did the same with a crowbar.
  • Trauma Button: Stephanie innocuously scrapes a socket wrench on the floor, which triggers traumatic flashbacks in Jason of Joker similarly scraping a crowbar just before beating him with it then blowing him up.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Jason stumbles upstairs and curls up in a corner trying to get away from the horrors his mind is revisiting upon him.
  • Troubled Backstory Flashback: Jason ends up having a flashback to his murder at Joker's hands.
