Tropes:

  • Armor-Piercing Question: When Gabi tells Kaya how the Eldians from Paradis deserve to suffer to atone for their sins, Kaya repeatedly questions why her mother had to die as she didn't do any of the things Gabi accuses them of. Gabi is eventually left without any answers to it.
  • Boomerang Bigot: Invoked. After escaping prison, Falco asks Gabi to remove her armband, or otherwise they'll stand out. Gabi refuses to do so, because in her mind, the armband is what proves that she's one of the "good" Eldians, and not a demon from Paradis.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Reiner invokes this while proposing for a sneak attack on Paradis Island. Zeke is well aware that it will take six months for the Global Alliance to launch their attack and during that time he will have likely come up with a counter strategy. Therefore Reiner proposes that Marley launch a sneak attack early since Zeke will expect them to still be recovering from the invasion.
  • Dramatic Irony: Kaya tells Gabi and Falco about how Sasha rescued her from a Titan and gave her an ideal to live her life by, completely unaware that one of the people she is telling this to is the same girl who murdered her savior. For added irony, Gabi herself is completely unaware that the woman she killed and the person in Kaya's story are one and the same.
  • He's Back!: After spending most of the season in a depressive funk, and even wanting to die for his past sins, Reiner recovers after learning that Gabi and Falco are at Paradis and insists that Marley needs to invade Paradis Island early.
  • Internal Reveal: The Marleyan's realize that Zeke must have been in on the attack of Liberio and that he is now working with Paradis.
  • Paying It Forward: This is the way Kaya chose to live her life, inspired by the way Sasha saved her life years before. This is why she helps Gabi and Falco, despite being aware that they're Marleyans the entire time.
  • Secret-Keeper: Kaya doesn't tell anyone that Gabi and Falco are Marleyans, while she was aware of that fact the whole time, and even tries to help them get back home by the end of the episode.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: Discussed. Kaya believes there's no sense in hating someone for what their ancestors did, or didn't do. Eventually, Kaya asks Gabi and Falco what her mother did to deserve to be eaten by a titan, since she was born, grew up and lived her entire life in Paradis, and wasn't in any way responsible for the crimes Gabi accuses the Eldians of Paradis of. Notably Kaya also tells Falco that he doesn't have to apologize for what the Marleyan's who invaded Paradis did to her mother since being born in Marley is no more a crime then her mother being born in Paradis.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Falco calls Gabi out on violently killing the guard that checked up on them since he seemed genuinely worried for her.
    • Several of the civilian characters from the Uprising Arc call Hange out on suppressing the information about Eren's arrest just like the previous Royal Government did.
