Stan receives his pilot's license, only to learn that Francine was once engaged to a man who disappeared in a plane crash and believes she may have just settled for him. Meanwhile, Steve tries to care for a cat that he inadvertently got run over.
Tropes:
- Continuity Nod: Being stranded on a rock for months causes Stan to overcome his fear of seagulls.
- Dramatic Irony: Francine quickly saw through Stan's plan to test whether or not she truly loved Travis over him, so she pretended to move on in order to make him jealous. However, a tsunami wiped out all of Stan's equipment, meaning he didn't see a thing. Both of them laugh over this.
- "Far Side" Island: The island that Stan and Roger fly to is initially a lush outpost with many amenities provided by the CIA, but a tsunami wipes out 95% of it, leaving only a single palm tree on a small beach.
- Incredibly Obvious Bug: Francine was initially devastated when she was told Stan had disappeared, only to then find several CIA cameras set up all over the house.Stan: Yeah, I probably could have hid them better.
- Never My Fault: Roger blames Stan for stranding them on the island, but Stan points out that he talked him into this scheme.Stan: Drown, spaceman! DROWN! (Ira the seagull squawks) SHUT UP, IRA!!!
- New Powers as the Plot Demands: Lampshaded. Stan tries to drown Roger for trapping them on the island, only to find that he floats perfectly in water and so uses him as a raft to escape the island.Stan: So you float, huh?
Roger: Yeah, guess so. - Sanity Slippage: Three months on the island starts to fry Stan's brain as he attempts to use rocks as a raft. Roger has clearly gone a bit mad himself, speaking eerily calm about rescue which is clearly not coming before viciously attacking Stan seconds later.Stan: (confidently) These rocks will make a fine raft.
