"As a yellow flower, Flowey is a symbol of innocence, love, and beauty. Even the name Flowey is a further infantilization to contradict what he represents in the story. He opposes what he symbolizes, an innocent flower, by being a villain. The purpose of contrasting Flowey's character with his image is to make him stand out. If Flowey first appeared to Frisk as a slimy ogre that wanted to kill them, or an evil wizard, then his introduction wouldn't be nearly as memorable."
