Basic Trope: Stealing from a video game enemy in an unrealistic way.

  • Straight: In Tales of Troperia XII, the "Steal" command can be used in battle to take items from an enemy. These items can include the weapon they are holding, the clothes on their back, and even body parts.
  • Exaggerated: You can steal things the enemy couldn't logically even carry, such as a BFS from a rat.
  • Downplayed: You can steal items the enemy would have on their person with relative ease, but anything equipped has very low odds of success.
  • Justified: The party is made up of legendary thieves who literally can steal things a person a is wearing or take items from their hands.
  • Inverted: Bandit Mook, Mooks Ate My Equipment
  • Subverted: Any items you steal are actually being carried by the enemy, which can include copies of their equipped items and body parts they already harvested from others.
  • Double Subverted: ...but due to a bug, you can still steal what they have equipped as well.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig-Zagged: The Steal command can be used to take items from an enemy, which can include weapons they are holding, the clothes on their backs, and even body parts. However, the game takes place inside of a Lotus-Eater Machine where the enemies are all generated and the usual rules of logic don't apply.
  • Averted: You can only steal items that the enemy would logically have on their person and aren't currently equipped.
  • Enforced: The game is based on a book in which these types of items are stolen from enemies, so it is coded in the game to be faithful to the source material.
  • Lampshaded: Party member Quirby comments upon stealing an unrealistic item for the first time "did you just rip out his heart!? How is he still standing!?"
  • Exploited:
  • Defied: Shoplift and Die
  • Discussed:
  • Conversed:
  • Deconstructed: Shoplift and Die
  • Reconstructed:
  • Played for Laughs: A sidequest features a competition with another thief to steal the most ridiculous items. Included by the end are a peg leg, a bra, and a spleen... without any of the victims noticing.
  • Played for Drama:
