Basic Trope: A throne room is used as a setpiece in a climactic confrontation.

  • Straight: In Tales of Troperia: The Ballad of Claidheamh, the eponymous Brave Scot Barbarian Anti-Hero manages to storm the throne room of Emperor Evulz as part of the Final Boss.
  • Exaggerated: Claidheamh does this to every sovereign he meets and antagonizes.
  • Downplayed: Claidheamh simply fights Evulz throughout the castle, either starting out in the front courtyard and working his way into the throne room, or vice-versa.
  • Justified:
    • Claidheamh's reputation as a One-Man Army isn't for naught; He's slaughtered everyone else before getting to Evulz.
    • Claidheamh just made a Dynamic Entry through one of the throne room's windows.
    • The war had become so one-sided in favor of Evulz' enemies; They've successfully stormed and broke into the Capital, started killing every civilian and guard in sight, and had just entered the actual Castle.
  • Inverted: A place where it's actually really undignified to fight in; Say, a pigsty.
  • Subverted: Evulz has Claidheamh thrown out of the throne room...
  • Double Subverted: But Claidheamh manages to come back anyway. Bonus points if it was nigh instantly, and from offscreen too.
  • Parodied: The war was so comically one-sided against Evulz that he's already surrendered. That's not stopping Claidheamh from still fighting him in the throne room anyway.
  • Zig-Zagged: Claidheamh and Evulz fight throughout the castle, but they get in and out of the throne room every now and then.
  • Averted:
    • Evulz' army surrenders.
    • Claidheamh fights Evulz elsewhere instead of a throne room.
  • Enforced: Rule of Cool.
  • Lampshaded: Evulz growls, "Of all places to fight, you had to pick THE THRONE ROOM!?"
  • Invoked: Claidheamh is spurred into fighting Evulz in the throne room upon realizing he has the chance to do so.
  • Exploited: If Evulz defeats Claidheamh, then he can also tack on "desecrated a throne room" on top of his crimes, which will 100% get Claidheamh the death sentence if the latter gets tried for his crimes.
  • Defied:
    • Evulz refuses to have any fights take place in his throne room.
    • Claidheamh refuses to desecrate the sanctity of a throne room.
  • Discussed: Sir Robert's aide, Lance, muses "You ever considered fighting in a throne room?" to which Sir Robert responds "At that point, I think you should have better things to do than keep up a pitiful last stand even when everything around you is crumbling to dust."
  • Conversed: Alice and Bob muse that if the war gets so bad for one side that they resort to this trope, then they might as well surrender on the spot.
