Basic Trope: A man who hates women to an absurd, exaggerated degree.

  • Straight: Bob is an extremely sexist man who thinks women should all Stay in the Kitchen and is always rude to women he meets.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Downplayed: He-Man Woman Hater
  • Justified: Bob is the son of a Straw Feminist single mother whose main goal was to symbolically castrate him. He is the product of her deranged notions about education.
  • Inverted: Bob is a male Straw Feminist who hates other men.
  • Gender Inverted: Alice is an absurd Straw Feminist who wants to create a misandric society.
  • Subverted: Bob says he hates "bitches", but it turns out he was talking about female dogs and was too socially awkward to realize how that might be misconstrued outside of a kennel.
  • Double Subverted: Bob also meant that as an insult towards women because they're women and not men.
  • Parodied: Bob runs into Alice, a Straw Feminist. Hilarity Ensues as both immediately jump at each other's throat.
  • Averted: Bob does not make any over-the-top displays of sexism. If he is sexist, all of it appears in subtle, realistic ways.
  • Enforced: The producers want to have a feminist message, but don't want to alienate mainstream men, so the sexist character who gets put in his place by the female characters is exaggerated so he won't compare with reality.
  • Lampshaded: "What is with Bob? Nobody hates women that much!"
  • Exploited: Alice the Straw Feminist uses Bob to discredit men in general.
  • Defied: Bob knows that being so openly sexist will only bring him problems, so he doesn't voice his extreme opinions in public.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: Bob's insane sexism ostracizes him from everyone around him because he's downright insufferable.
    • Bob's inclusion into the story can be problematic in it's own right, since including him causes Jim to be seen as "better" by comparison, even though Jim in truth has far more insidious or subtler discriminatory views on women (such as constantly speaking over Alice despite feigning respect for women, claiming to care about women while not consulting or actually understanding the views of actual women, etc.) that can arguably be more damaging, but are glossed over because Bob is the more overtly misogynistic character.
  • Reconstructed: Bob eventually understands that his views on women are completely erroneous and that he's just as annoying as the Straw Feminists he constanly jabs at. He works to change his tone and his perpective.
  • Played for Laughs: Bob flies into uncontrallable fits of rage whenever a woman is in his vicinity.
  • Played for Drama: Bob abuses his wife and daughters to a horrifically exaggerated degree because of his beliefs.
  • Played for Horror: Bob is a serial killer who targets women, especially feminists, out of hatred instead of debased sexual desire.
