- The Tropeian wouldn't be a threat without a superhuman sense of hearing.
- The Tropeian's (ancestral) species never had a reason to evolve eyes and as a consequence, it's other senses were never held back by eyes already doing some of the heavy lifting.
- Inverted: The Tropeian is an invisible monster, but makes very audible growling noises and footsteps.
- Subverted: The Tropeian hunts in an area where visibility is low for its prey, too, like a dark forest.
- Double Subverted: The Tropeian frequently goes to a different area when it isn't hunting that goes back to giving it a disadvantage.
- Parodied: The Tropeian is a monster that can speak English or a made-up language, and frequently calls out to its prey, often comedically throwing itself off with its own echoing voice.

- Reconstructed: The Tropeian somehow wanders to a new environment where its only "prey" and source of food is humans, and it learns to hunt them with its visual handicap.
