Basic Trope: Someone undergoes a Heel–Face Turn, only to fail at actually redeeming themselves.
- Straight: Dracone, Emperor Evulz' former dragon, had a Heel–Face Turn after Evulz' defeat and joined the team. He later reverted to his evil ways, though.
- Exaggerated: Dracone swears to never do anything evil ever again after Evulz' defeat... and promptly becomes an Omnicidal Maniac out of nowhere, for some odd reason (we never explore this reason).
- Downplayed: Dracone occasionally acts like a Jerkass even after his redemption, but doesn't necessarily do anything horrible.
- Justified:
- Dracone is so used to doing evil things that he doesn't really realize what it's like to be good, so it's understandable that he'd relapse.
- Dracone's efforts in doing good is ignored or outright rejected by others who remember him for his evil deeds. If people won't accept him as a hero, then being evil is the only path to take.
- Someone has been sabotaging Dracone’s attempts to reform, either out of spite or because they need him for something.
- Inverted: Hiro has a Face–Heel Turn, but forgets that he's supposed to be evil, and occasionally does random nice acts.
- Subverted: Dracone seems to be raising a knife to attack someone, but he's really just about to cut bread.
- Double Subverted: And then he brandishes the knife in a threatening way at the heroes later.
- Parodied: Dracone becomes the Token Evil Teammate, and it's a Running Gag for him to do random evil acts only for the heroes to scold him.
- Zig-Zagged: During training* , at the start of episode 77.
- Averted:
- Dracone has a Heel–Face Turn and remains good.
- Nobody redeems.
- Enforced:
- To show that Dracone is Reformed, but Not Tamed.
- "I don't think the audience will believe it if the villain's sidekick suddenly becomes an All-Loving Hero. Maybe we should have him fail to redeem himself."
- The show was cancelled before Dracone's Redemption Arc entered the positive stages (let alone reached its intended conclusion).
- Lampshaded: "Why did we even let him on the team?"
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: Dracone explicitly avoids doing evil acts after he reforms.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Played for Drama: Dracone is really trying to be a better person, but Hiro keeps getting mad every time Dracone does something evil by mistake, causing Dracone to become upset.
