Basic Trope: Twins, Rivals, or Foils in general are of opposite dexterities.

  • Straight: In Tales of Troperia, Sir Robert is right handed, whereas Claidheamh is left handed.
  • Exaggerated: Sir Robert and Claidheamh have literally mirrored actions; Whatever Sir Robert does with his right, Claidheamh does with his left, down to the way they write with pens.
  • Downplayed: Sir Robert and Claidheamh are predominantly right and left handed respectively, though there are times in which they have to do a Situational Hand Switch.
  • Justified: The Prophecy states that the right handed Knight in Shining Armor will clash with the left handed Barbarian Hero. Sir Robert and Claidheamh fit the two roles respectively to a T.
  • Inverted: Not applicable; The trope would still either be labelled as straight if either rivals' dexterities were switched, or averted if both share similar dexterity.
  • Subverted: It appears that one of the rivals are going to be of opposing dexterity, but they are revealed to have the same dexterity as the other rival...
  • Double Subverted: ...Before being forced to do a Situational Hand Switch.
  • Parodied: Every duo tends to have opposing dexterities. About 50% of the world is left handed because of this.
  • Zig-Zagged: Both of them are robots and have exactly 1 arm that can move anywhere on their torso. "Laterality" is a bizarre concept.
  • Averted:
    • Both are ambidextrous.
    • Both have the same dexterity.
    • Both lack arms.
  • Enforced: To further add to them foiling each other.
  • Lampshaded: "Ah, of course. My greatest rival uses the opposite hand."
  • Invoked: Either rivals' mentors encourage them to use opposing dexterities.
  • Exploited: Southpaw Advantage (or Northpaw Advantage) could be in play here, if being a lefty or righty respectively is a rarity.
  • Defied: Both of them refuse to train in opposing dexterities.
  • Discussed: "Don't you think it's bizarre considering how these two have opposing dexterities?"
  • Conversed: "Classic trope: The foil is different handed than the protagonist."
