Go To

Basic Trope: Kids punish their own parents.

  • Straight: When Bob and Alice refuse to give their son Charles a toy, he punishes them beating them up with a belt.
  • Exaggerated: Charles punishes Bob and Alice by destroying their phones, breaking their bones, destroying their engagement ring, and lastly getting them arrested and sentenced to death, all because he didn't get soda and fried chicken for dinner.
  • Downplayed:
    • Charles punishes Bob and Alice by scolding them.
    • Charles only threatens to punish his parents, but doesn't go through with it.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted: Charles gets told by Bob and Alice to put the toy where it belonged. He then grabs Bob's belt... but he instead uses it to buckle his pants.
  • Double Subverted: Then he grabs Bob's belt and beats Bob and Alice up.
  • Parodied: Charles punishes Alice and Bob by throwing pies at their faces and making them dress as a clown in public.
  • Zig-Zagged: Charles grabs a belt when he doesn't get a toy... but instead uses it to buckle his pants. Then he takes out a sharp knife... but only uses it to chop some food for his parents. This continues with various objects for no reason at all until he finally calls 911 and gets his parents arrested... but he was only trying to order a pizza for them.
  • Averted: Charles doesn't punish his parents because he didn't get a toy.
  • Enforced: The creator wanted to make the kids look evil in his work.
  • Lampshaded: "Charles is just a kid, why would he punish his own parents?"
  • Invoked: Charles is talking with his friend Danny about what he should do about his parents constantly punishing him, and Danny suggests punishing his parents back.
  • Exploited: Charles sees this as an opportunity to abuse Bob and Alice and make them his slaves.
  • Defied: Bob and Alice realize that Charles is going to beat them up with a belt so they get in a car and drive away.
  • Discussed: "What should I do about my parents constantly punishing me?" "How about you try punishing them back to see how they like it?"
  • Conversed: "What's with kids punishing their own parents? They made them anyway."
  • Implied: After Charles is refused a toy by Bob and Alice, he is seen with an angry look. Cut to outside of the house, where they look brutally beaten up.
  • Played for Laughs: Double Standard: Violence, Child on Adult
  • Played for Drama: Charles makes punishing his parents harshly a common occurrence and starts traumatizing them.
  • Played for Horror: Charles brutally murders his parents.
