Basic Trope: A character or weapon turns gold when it enters a Super Mode.

  • Straight: Alice transforms into Mega Alice, whose hair stands up and turns gold.
  • Exaggerated: Alice transforms into Mega Alice, whose hair, skin, and eyes turn a glowing neon gold color.
  • Downplayed: Mega Alice's Battle Aura turns from blueish to goldish. Otherwise, her appearance and colors are otherwise unchanged
  • Justified: The kind of energy she's harnessing causes certain materials to glow gold
  • Advertisement:
  • Inverted: Alice is already blonde and when she becomes Mega Alice her hair turns raven black, and she gains a battle aura composed of pure darkness.
  • Subverted: Alice is transforming into Mega Alice and a golden light starts glowing all around her... then when the transformation is over, she's wearing blue and her hair has turned green.
  • Double Subverted: This is only her first transformation and she still has three more transformations to make. These transformations are all golden
  • Parodied:
    • Alice buys some Dragon Ball Z licensed gum which turns her hair gold and gives her Flying Brick powers.
    • Mega Alice not only turns into pure gold, but she also gains ability to turn anything she touches into gold.
    • Alice "transformation" into Mega Alice consists in covering herself in flashy, ostentatious and elaborate gold jewelry, as if she was an overtly flamboyant parody of Gangsta Rappers.
    • Advertisement:
    • Alice's less-powerful friends, Betty and Claire, have silver and bronze super modes respectively.
  • Zig Zagged: It looks like her transformation will be gold, but it turns out to be blue... then she transforms again and she's gold... then she transforms again and is black... but she then puts on glowing gold armor.....
  • Enforced: "All the cool transformations are gold, Alice should turn gold when she powers up"
  • Lampshaded: "I guess I can finally be the blonde I always wanted to be"
    • "You want the gold standard for power? Then witness THIS!"
  • Invoked: Alice imbibes a complex series of alchemical reagents in order to turn her super form gold, rather than the ridiculous colour it was before.
  • Exploited: Alice blinds people with the glint from her golden locks.
  • Defied: Alice learns of a transformation that will turn her hair gold, but refuses to do so, as it would be cliche.
  • Discussed: "They say transforming can change your hair color."
  • Advertisement:
  • Conversed: "Gold is used for many objects, from medals and trophies to transformed shonen heroines."
  • Deconstructed: Mega Alice's hair, along with her natural blue eyes, causes people to mistake her as supporting superior racial stereotypes.
  • Reconstructed:
    • Being able to turn her hair gold at a whim allows her to start a super hero career without the need for Clark Kenting.
    • Betty, Alice's friend, shares the title of protagonist and has blond hair that turns brown when she goes Mega, preventing perceived discrimination.
  • Played for Laughs: Alice transforms by spray-painting her hair gold.
