Despite being touted as a comedy, there's a lot of segments that can be quite unsettling.- The Ghost of a Flea sketch is set in a darkened room, where the titular ghost appears before an old man. It's not made clear why he's appearing before this old man and you're kept guessing what he's planning to do.
- One episode has Noel introducing a chimpanzee as a close acquaintance of his. The chimp says that Noel molested him. Noel's response isn't to deny it, but to chastise the chimp for embarrassing him.
- The number of close-ups of various characters can be unnerving for first-time viewers. Examples include the Audience, Raymond Boombox, Diamondback and Secret Peter.
- Daddy Push. His shell-head is very similar to a skull.
- Dondylion's enclosure looks horrible. It's cramped, the food looks like styrofoam and at one point he's forced to bunk with a chimpanzee. Dondylion even mentions being subjected to senseless acts of cruelty such as being castrated.
- Fridge Horror sets in when you notice how similar the zoo looks to the Zooniverse. If Dondylion didn't escape when he did, who knows what other horrors he'd be in for.
- The band of misfits that's travelling to see the Jellyfox. They're computer-animated which makes them look especially weird, there's random cuts to the various members making their signature noises (Spoon-snake's "Am Iiiiii nothing?" is especially creey) and the leader Little Chrissy admits to slaughtering his entire village and doesn;t want to live with the guilt.
- To say nothing of the Jelly Fox itself, which is a head large enough to fill a castle and only communicates by bellowing.
- The narrator for the Fantasy Man segments is finally revealed to be some grotesque humanoid. Not helping is that he hints at ratting out Fantasy Man for his own amusement after his latest lapse in sanity left several people critically injured.
- Fantasy Block's face. He looks exactly like the Babadook.
