Literature / Moon Dragon Summer

Go To

5th in the Heart Quest spinoff of the Endless Quest Gamebook series.

Young, beautiful maiden Summer is encouraged by her mother to find a nice husband and settle down. Summer, however, is a bit more on the ball than her mother and suitor, and realizes it'd never be safe to do so until the Moon Dragon that's terrorizing the lands around their home is defeated. Maybe the handsome wizard she meets on her quest can help her look forward to such things in the aftermath...

Moon Dragon Summer provides examples of:

  • Cool Old Lady: Summer's grandmother, who encouraged her to be a warrior if that was what called to her.
  • Lady of War: Granted you only see it at the beginning since the book's about a dragon-slaying quest, but Summer can clearly be feminine and charming too. The back text even calls her "a charming, feminine young woman seemingly meant for love and marriage."
  • Night and Day Duo: The villain's a mysterious, oppressive Moon Dragon. Meanwhile, the heroine's named Summer, representing light and life, and even carries magical light rays she can use to weaken the dragon.
  • Noble Male, Roguish Male: Summer's suitor, Edmond, who's all gentlemanly and civilized, versus her "true" Love Interest, Folc the wizard, who lives in a cabin in the mountains, wears furs and sports a manly beard.
  • Title Confusion: The book's name sounds a hell of a lot like a working title that never got updated. Without the story being read, it probably conjures up all kinds of images, but it really just refers to the villain being a Moon Dragon, and the heroine's name being Summer.
  • Weapon of X-Slaying: Summer owns the magic sword that's the only thing that can slay the dragon.
