  • In "Brother's Keeper", Crockett falls asleep in his son's bed with him, wanting to spend the night with the child whose birthday he missed.
  • The episode "Cool Runnin" shows Crockett hosting a party and cookout for the OCB on the St. Vitus Dance. It shows that OCB is a tight-knit group and that outside of work, they are real people with real lives.
  • In "Golden Triangle part 2", Castillo reacts to the discovery of his wife being remarried with a child with a soft, I Want My Beloved to Be Happy and support of their safety rather than any display of anguish or selfishness. The only sign of how affected he was by events is I Need a Freaking Drink.
  • Valerie Gordon lets her sister know in "Rites of Passage" that while she doesn't approve of her current life as a prostitute doing drugs, she loves her unconditionally and will always be there for her.
  • Castillo's speech in "Child's Play". While pretty heartwarming in itself, coming from Castillo, who's caught here saying that he cares for somebody in lieu of giving the usual trademark staredown, amplifies the effect.
All right. [...] You pulled the trigger. Now, live with the responsibility. It's gonna scar you, eat you, burn you inside, and it should. But you got work to do that you care about, people are depending on that. You got people who care for you, Sonny, like me. Don't lose yourself. Keep on going."
  • In "Made For Each Other" Zito suffers an episode-long Humiliation Conga (his ex-girlfriend left him and started a relationship with Switek, he burned his fingertips trying to grab the evidence money, his home caught fire and his beloved goldfish, Harry, died in it, etc.). Soon afterwards, not only do Gina and Trudy gift him another goldfish whom he names Harriet, but after dealing with the awkward aftermath of having to move in with his partner and his ex, the former ultimately chooses his job and his partnership/friendship with him over her.
