Brothers
  • Luke and Lelouch gradually develop a strong sense of comradery with one another as the story progresses, which in some ways resembles the brotherly bond that Anakin Skywalker and Obi-wan Kenobi had once shared.
  • Suzaku developing a friendship with Ciena Ree; both being idealistic and moral soldiers of their respective imperial sides.
  • Tamaki quickly shows a large amount of respect for Captain Rex.
  • The Day of the Awakening: Lelouch is amazed at Luke's willingness to stand up for him, despite being a stranger, seeing it as a true act of selflessness.
  • The Knights Awaken:
    • Luke, while in a Sutherland, fights against Suzaku, in the Lancelot, to protect Lelouch.
    • He then breaks off from the fight to save the falling mother and child, using the Force.
  • A Prince onboard the Millenium Falcon: It's subtle, but it's nice to see Lelouch's childlike wonder and amazement when he realizes he's on an actual spaceship and meeting people from beyond the stars.
  • Pride and Vengeance: After sharing with Lelouch their respective tragedies, they promise him that they will stand by him and help him get justice for his mother. Lelouch is stunned by the promise, believing it was always his burden to carry alone.
    • He then notes that they need to come up with a counter-strategy, together.
  • The Spark: When the Rebels from the Ghost Crew express doubt about working with Zero since he won't show them his face, Luke is the first to step up in defense and assure them that Zero is an ally. When Rex asks if Luke trusts Zero, the boy says he does, shocking Lelouch. Soon enough, the whole crew of the Falcon speaks up in support of Zero. The crew of the Ghost soon decided to trust their fellow rebels and place their trust in Zero.
    • A little note mentions how Kallus, once a Stormtrooper, now stands as a proud Rebel.
  • Guardians of Peace and Justice:
    • Suzaku goes out of his way to protect Darth Vader in the tunnel. Despite his intervention being wholly unneeded (and even somewhat constituting jumping rank), Vader is impressed (and maybe even a bit swayed) by Suzaku's dedication. He may be an unforgiving Dark Lord of the Sith, but it's almost moving to see Vader being treated with a sense of comradery; something he probably hasn't truly experienced since the days of the Clone Wars, where he led his faithful 501st clone battalion on the frontlines as the Jedi General Anakin Skywalker.
    • Luke compliments Euphemia on her willingness to offer herself up as a hostage in place of the civilians, stating that what she did was a truly noble action.
  • The Reluctant Heroes: Rex assures both Ohgi and Tamaki that the numbers they were given by Britannia don't define who they are, the same how his birth numbers didn't define him and his fellow clones. He promises them he'll stand with them against both Empires, not just as soldiers, but as brothers.
  • Burning Orange: When the Black Knights express doubt about whether they can win against Britannia: Zero, Leia, Hera, Luke, and Rex inspire the rebels to have faith that together, they can win. Kallen, Ohgi, and Tamaki get some highlights as well, as they join in on helping to convince the others. Lelouch notes that it felt good how they were able to convince them, in a way he's never known before.
  • The Battle for Narita: When the Rebels find Zero, Luke, and C.C. in a cave, Chewbacca goes up to C.C. to see if she's alright and immediately begins to pat her head affectionately. She smiles and says it's good to see he's alright as well.
  • Messenger from Kyoto: Kihiara asks Lelouch if he trusts Luke and Leia with his identity. He replies that he trusts them with his life, shocking the two but causing them to smile.

  • Mao's Game:
    • When Mao steals Luke's Lightsaber, Lelouch promises his friend they'll get it back.
    • When C-3PO is accidentally revealed to Milly, Rivalz, Shirley, and Suzaku at the Ashford Clubhouse (but fortunately keeps his affiliation with the Rebel Alliance from being known), the group happily rolls with his presence and informally induct him into the Student Council. The following chapters show Threepio finally having some free reign about the school campus and happily interacting with the council members, particularly with Nunnally. Consider how often he gets into peril, it's nice to see Threepio getting to serve his primary objectives as a protocol droid.
  • Cheering Mao:
    • Soon after Threepio is assigned to live with Lelouch and Nunnally, he quickly takes to helping the siblings in day-to-day life, such as helping Nunnally with meals and such.
    • Chewbacca is saddened by C.C. leaving. Being sympathetic, she writes down the phone number for Pizza Hutt and hands it to the Wookiee, telling him that Threepio can make the call if he wants Pizza. She tells him she'll never forget him and gives him a pat on the head before leaving.
    • After the trial with Mao, the Rebels who know Lelouch is now Zero, all have a stronger bond.
  • Nunnally and Threepio Held Hostage:
    • Kallen joins in on the rescue of Nunnally alongside Lelouch and Suzaku.
    • Nunnally is constantly worried about Threepio, showing just how much she's grown to value the protocol droid in the short time he's lived with the vi Britannia siblings.
    • It's subtle, but it implied that another reason Suzaku killed his father, other than ensuring Japan wouldn't do a do-or-die resistance, had something to do with Lelouch and by extension, Nunnally.
  • A Friend in Need:
    • For most of the entire chapter, Lelouch tries to come up with the best way to help Suzaku overcome the guilt he feels for killing his father without using Geass, showing that he does love and value his friendship with Suzaku.
    • Threepio has taken to reading stories to Nunnally before bed. When Nunnally asks Threepio about his previous master (Luke), and expresses a desire to meet him, Threepio begins to recount the tale of how he and Artoo met him.
      • When Lelouch comes home, he thanks Threepio for reading to Nunnally.
    • It's subtle, but in the narration, Lelouch thinks of people who act as a knight for Nunnally, he considers Luke. While he doesn't decide on him, the fact that he's willing to trust his sister with the Jedi shows just how much trust Lelouch has in Luke.
      • It's also implied that Lelouch was about to mention he considers Luke his brother.
