Headscratchers / William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet

Go To

  • Romeo and Juliet first see each other when Romeo is splashing water on his face in the bathroom and Juliet is on the other side of an aquarium. It looks pretty, and fits with the movie's use of water as symbolism, but who puts a see-through aquarium between the men's and women's restrooms?
  • Why would Romeo buy poison if he's armed all the time?
    • The same applies to the original text; Romeo still had his sword and dagger when he bought the poison. Maybe he didn't have the nerve to do himself in with a weapon (like Juliet did), or he didn't want to get blood over Juliet's supposed corpse.
