• Why is Ygritte even in Winterfell? I mean, she's not important by any means, in the books she specifically notes to Jon that she's basically a nobody and no one would care if she and Jon just left. Mance is there because he's King Beyond the Wall, Val is there because she's his goodsister, but why bring Ygritte?
  • She is probably one of the best archers among all the Free Folk, and Mance seems to know her personally. Maybe he brought her with him as a bodyguard?
    • Alternatively she may have decided to just follow Jon to Winterfell herself and an extra Free Folk person present is just being accepted with everyone focused on other matters.
  • It could also be a test to see how well the average Wildling could live in the North without causing trouble (since Eddard Stark wants to try and fold them into the North as citizens). It makes sense, since, besides her archery skills, she isn’t really anyone special among the Free Folk, so she wouldn’t be a bad choice to try it out with.
