Headscratchers / Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart

  • Why doesn't Badgerclops just sleep on the couch? Yeah it's not a bed, but it's also not cramped and covered in sharp weapons.
    • take it from someone who's gone from sleeping on a mattress on the floor, to a couch, to a new bed, sleeping on a couch for long enough starts to hurt.

  • What is the relationship between Mao Mao's mom and sisters like? Mao Mao? Her husband. She never shows in the flashbacks.
    • Judging by how he believes his father never gave him any attention, due to the fact that he comes from a big family, all the attention went to his sisters. However, he's an Unreliable Narrator in the sense that he over-exaggerates his memories. So his childhood might not have been as bad as he says it was, and his dad just wasn't home most of the time. Maybe.

  • If Orangusnake said Mao Mao was the reason he became who he is today, then why didn’t Orangusnake recognize Mao Mao in the first episode?
    • Because at the time, Orangusnake's backstory wasn't established yet.

  • Why would Mao Mao be concerned about being made fun of for not having a tail while naked? For one, his outfit doesn't even hide that fact anyway, and second, he's willingly shown his lack of a tail multiple times.
    • 1. Rule of Funny. 2. Maybe he just "feels naked" without his clothes on, just like how Finn from Adventure Time feels naked without his hat on. 3. He could've been made fun of for it before. Maybe by his family members. 4. Wearing clothes makes it less obvious that he has no tail. I honestly did not notice he was tailless until he pointed it out.

  • The episode "Adoradad" shows us that Adorabat still has her dad around, and he seems to live in the valley, but episodes after it would suggest she still lives at Sheriff HQ. Is there any reason she isn't living with her dad (who is now supportive of her) but still working with Mao Mao and Badgerclops?
    • Probably because Adorabat is part of the main trio.
    • And quite frankly, she still scares him.

  • So, what type of people are the residents of Mao Mao's world? The show repeatedly joked about them being Living Toys, such as them sounding like a squeaky toy after falling on the ground. But they don't have stuffing or any signs of stitches.

  • In "Outfoxed", it is revealed that Pure Heart Valley has a social security system. Is it even necessary in such an idyllic place to live?
    • In case you haven't noticed, Mao Mao's world established itself as a Crapsaccharine World. On a daily basis, the town of Pure Heart is literally on fire or ice due to roaming monsters, left to terrorize the citizens. Criminals such as Rufus as well as that mother who made a poor, ill-judged decision to abandon her children in the sewer drain, are also present. Yes, it's pretty necessary.
  • When Shin Mao finally appears, nobody seems particularly impressed with him, and are generally uncomfortable with his condescending attitude. In Mao Mao's flashback in "Lonely Kid", a bunch of mean kids refer to Mao Mao's family as "...that weird family that lives up on the hill." Since Mao Mao is the only character in the series to refer to his family in glorifying terms, it kind of makes you wonder what kind of reputation does Shin Mao and his family really have in the outside world?
  • Why does Mao Mao have a harness and leash that perfectly fit Baderclops?
