Headscratchers / Justice League Dark

  • Why would the Draugs want Batman's soul if their job is to drag evil souls to Hell specifically?
    • They might be referring to all the time's Batman has been tempted to cross the line but has consistently refused. He's faced with damning choices everyday in a hell hole but hasn't broken his one rule. This leaves beings like them vexed since any other person should have long given in under the same stress and past motivations.
    • Or they might be referencing to Batman having a tendency to save the more vile and murderous villains from his Rogues gallery (Like the Joker) from certain death multiple times, and thus cheating the Draugs of the damned souls they are eager to collect.
  • John Constantine is a renowned smoker. But in this movie he doesn't light up once. This is an R rated film with brutal on screen murders and the word "shit." What's going on?
    • Many times, in many continuities, Constantine has tried to kick the habit (usually to no avail). The movie may just take place during one of those times.
    • Possibly a real world motivation. Television and movie studios have been gradually reducing visible tobacco use so as not to influence people to smoke.
  • So why was Faust causing random people to hallucinate and kill one another? And if it wasn't him, why was he sending random elementals to murder Batman and Co to cover the evidence? We clearly see him summon the tornado and shit elemental.
    • Faust had nothing to do with any of the recent supernatural occurrences, as he was completely baffled by the Dark League's hugely aggressive, unprovoked assault, and honestly admitted the ring might be his, but because his collection was so vast, he couldn't be sure. It was implied that Ritchie was behind it all because he was trying to frame Faust. (Constantine even says a whirlwind is just Faust's style.) The more pertinent question here is, "Why did Ritchie feel the need to dress up as Faust while casting those spells when he was doing it all in secret?" And also perhaps, "Why did his voice not even sound like his own voice?" Rule of Drama or a cheap Red Herring, maybe, but still.
      • Except it's not Ritchie dressed as Faust. It is Faust. We get a closeup of the hands. They have long clawed nails. Faust has those, Ritchie does not. So again, why does Faust attack people if he's got nothing to do with this. He at the very least summoned the shit elemental and the tornado.
      • Perhaps the Frame-Up works in both directions, with Ritchie tipping off Faust that the League is after him.
  • Doesn't Bruce Wayne have a huge garden on his estate? So shouldn't Swamp Thing like him as well?
    • Unless all the time he spends fighting Poison Ivy cancels that out.
    • Maybe he doesn't know Batman is Bruce Wayne?
    • Its likely Zatanna personally attends to her garden while Bruce Wayne does not. Tending to the green earns his affection not owning it.
