Headscratchers / Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem

Go To

  • Why does a female My Unit only have access to one class with use of axe, and only after promotion?
    • Same reason the male can't be a pegasus knight.
    • Fire Emblem games are rather scarce with female axe users, and moreso older games (Which were scarce in Axe Users in general. Gaiden and Mystery of the Emblem Book 2 had NO Axe users, period!), so that's to be expected.
  • Aside from one .hack anime, I can hardly recall any axe-wielding females in anime. That brings me to the point that it is a conscious decision just like no male pegasi knights or troubadours in most games.
  • Hold a second, Female My Unit can be a Wyvern Rider which is a pre-promoted axe user, right?
  • If Samuel was a gladiator in his past, and currently a mercenary, then why doesn't he have traits that would suggest it (visible scars, noticeable muscle mass, etc)? (Yes, I know this is probably just the designers not putting much thought into him, due to not being plot important, but it looks somewhat silly when compared to Ogma.)
    • A bit of Gameplay and Story Integration here, maybe? Samuel's speed is one of his two solid stats, and he's a Myrmidon. So perhaps he was agile enough to dodge a lot? If this is actually the case, he'd probably need to remain slim and light to maintain it. Or, alternatively the scars are all just under his clothes.
  • Gharnef's original reason for becoming evil was jealousy for not inheriting Aura. Now, take a look inside one of the chests in Chapter 20x. An Aura Tome, in the hideout of the assassin group he controls. How did he not notice?
    • It's mentioned a couple of times (the opening to Chapter 9, and the support talk between Merric and Linde) that certain high-level tomes have restrictions placed on them that only allow certain people to wield such advanced magic. Since Aura can only be used by women (barring Miloah, who passed it on to his daughter Linde before his death), it's possible that Gharnef couldn't use that spare tome even if he did get his hands on it. By that point, it's likely that Gharnef simply doesn't care anymore since he has Imhullu, a tome that renders him invulnerable to everything except Starlight.
