  • The characters and film spend a good part of the movie wondering and assuming that Freddy might have been innocent of molesting them... except they were all in kindergarten when they told their parents with Nancy flat out telling her mother where Freddy took them. In the flashbacks it showed that the children loved playing with Freddy, why on earth would they lie about something like that? I highly doubt that they knew what Freddy was doing to them and how bad it would be if it got out. So why would they assume Freddy was innocent?
    • Firstly, because the kids all either repressed their memories or had those memories repressed by therapists and their parents. They don't remember exactly what happened, and they were young enough that their memories of that time would have been spotty anyway. Then Freddy manipulated Quentin by showing him how he really died. Forming a mob and killing a screaming, cornered man in cold blood without arresting him or finding any evidence beyond the word of the kids looks pretty bad. Top that with the parents having lied to the kids that Freddy skipped town earlier in the film, and the kids have every reason to believe Freddy might have been innocent.
    • Though this is all moot when they do go to the cave and find photos of his victims. Confirming he's guilty.

  • Why does Freddy kill in a boiler room?
    • It could be a reference to him being the groundskeeper and apparent maintenance man of the preschool, but the basement of that place... just looked like a generic basement. It's unlikely it's a reference to the place where he died either, since the building the parents chased him into just looked like a storage shed of some sort.
    • Because... well, just because fans would not be happy if it was anything other than a boiler room?
    • I saw a bunch of pipes and stuff there. Also, Rule of Scary.
