• The scene where Adult Gordie explains how Vern overheard his older brother Billy and Charlie Hogan talking about Ray Brower.
  Adult Gordie: At the beginning of the school year, he had buried a quart jar of pennies under his house. He drew a treasure map so he could find them again. A week later, his mom cleaned out his room and threw away the map. Vern had been trying to find those pennies for nine months. Nine months, man. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
• In the novella The Body, which this movie is based on, Vern's been looking for years. Gets a bit sad when it's heavily implied that his brother dug up the pennies long ago and Vern strongly suspects this, but he's too afraid of his brother to confront him about it.
• The bit where the gang counts how much money they have to buy food.
  Gordie: Seven cents, Vern?
  Vern: (sheepishly) I haven't found my pennies, yet...
• Just after Teddy breaks down over Milo Pressman calling his father a looney and the gang lapses into awkward/sympathetic silence, Vern begins singing, 'Have Gun, Will Travel' and then abruptly trails off as he realises that nobody finds it remotely amusing.
• Teddy's threat to Pressman: "I'm gonna rip your head off and shit down your neck!"
  • Not to mention his taunt from the original story; "YOUR MOTHER BLOWS DEAD RATS!" Which is enough to send Teddy's friends into hysterics.
• "By the time we get there, the kid isn't even going to be dead anymore."
• And then there's Gordie and Chris's reaction ('JESUS!!') to the gun firing (which Chris claimed wasn't loaded).
• "Oh Billy, I wish we never boosted that car! Oh Billy, I think I just turned my Fruit-of-the-Looms into a fudge factory!"
• "Aw, Vern, you we're so scared, you looked like the fat guy from Abbott and Costello when he saw the Mummy!"
  • "I wasn't that scared."
• Vern crawling on the train track while Gordie slowly walks behind him with a steely expression on his face.
• "The comb... I lost the comb."
  • "Forget it, Verno."
• "D'you use your left hand or your right hand for that?" "You wish."
• The whole campfire conversation with the famous "Man, that's weird... What the hell is Goofy?" and all.
• The boys wrestling in the swamp.
  Teddy: This is my age! I'm in the prime of my youth, and I'll only be young once!
  Chris: Yeah, but you're gonna be stupid for the rest of your life.
• "I don't shut up, I grow up! And when I look at you, I throw up! Bleeeehhhhhh!"
  • "And then your mom comes around the corner and licks it up."
  • "Finding new and disgusting ways to insult a friend's mother was always held in high regard."
    • Chris and Vern are pantomiming sticking their fingers down each other's throats. (If you watch closely, you can see them give each other quick visual cues, giving a hint of how close these kids are, and how well they know one another.
• "That's Chopper?!"
  • "Chopper was my first lesson in the vast difference between myth and reality."
• "Now, he said 'Sic 'em, boy.' But what I heard was, 'Chopper, sic balls.'" *cut to Gordie screaming in fear*
• "Suck my fat one you cheap dime store hood."
  • "'Suck my fat one?' Who ever told you you had a fat one?"
    • "Biggest one in four counties."
• "The Revenge of Lard Ass Hogan."
