• Michael Sheen as Arthur the robot bartender has most of the funniest moments.
  Arthur: Jim, these are not robot questions.
  • Arthur is mortified, upon realizing he has no legs.
    Arthur: I laughed at a man with no pants, until I realized I have no legs.
• When Gus uses the autodoc to diagnose his rapidly failing health, all it does is dispense several pills to "Alleviate his suffering," in what has to be a significantly larger dose than could possibly be safe.
  • Gus's comically understated reaction to learning that Jim deliberately woke Aurora.
    Gus: Still, damn.
  • Gus first reaction to being awoken from sleep early.
    Gus: (totally deadpan) This is Deck Chief Gus Mancuso. Who the hell planted a tree on my ship?
• Jim having to deal with the less than helpful intergalactic conference calling system.
  Jim: How do I send a message to Earth?
  Ship's Computer: Interstellar messages are sent by laser array. This is an expensive service.
  Jim: Bite me!
  Ship's Computer: Happy to help.
  • And when Jim having done the phone call, he learns the message will arrive in 19 years. And the earliest response will come in 55 years.
    Phone Machine: Thank you for your usage. That'll be $6012.
  • Jim's general anger at the machines for not allowing him the food he wants (including something as simple as coffee, with cream and sugar) simply because he lacks "gold card" membership. Fortunately, Jim being an engineer manages to eventually just hack into the machines in order to get the good food.
