    Lore
  • In stark contrast to the other introductory stories for the ancients, After Orbit is a comedy due to the eccentricities of the Aethers:
    • The Aethers of Captain Cosmo's era have a wide variety of names. Some are goofier than others, such as Fiddlesticks, Crinkle, and xXxDarkStarxXx.
    • When the Astrolab initially enters orbit, Cosmo mentions that the lack of gravity has caused his first and science officers to "collid(e) physically as well as philosophically" and necessitated the temporary abandnment of the mess hall "due to the deadly floating utensils".
    • Repeated mention is made of dragons solving problems by referring to the Astrolab's operation manual, only for their copies to go missing. It isn't made explicit what's happening until Captain Cosmo catches someone eating their manual. When Cosmo requests more manuals, none are provided; he then realizes that despite the Arcanist giving the crew more than enough copies for everyone to have one, the only manual that didn't get eaten within two months of the Astrolab entering orbit is his own.
    • Upon hearing that the Astrolab is going to crash into the planet's surface, Captain Xanda announces that the crew should secure any delicate or flammable experiments before promptly resigning and promoting First Officer Sparkle to captain. The newly minted Captain Sparkle is heard sputtering indignantly before the announcement ends.

    Site Events
  • Sometimes the festivals experience... technical difficulties, such as Lameforger's Festival and the Festival of the One.
  • The World Map update of 2021 included the ability to see the multiheaded undead Imperial dragon Luminax wander around for the first time. The majority of users found Luminax endearing to the point of the staff giving out Luminax-themed convention merchandise apparel for April Fools' Day that year because the site's collective excitement over "the undead Imperial amalgam" reminded them of conventions.
Aequorin: We shouldn't have been surprised by the fact a game's player base would see a rampaging monstrosity of death and destruction and respond with "precious baby, must protect!" but we were.
