Another Code: Two Memories/Trace Memory

  • In the original DS release, the Captain will give Ashley some candy before she leaves the docks. This candy can be eaten at any time — including after dramatic moments such as Ashley learning that her mom is dead, or that her father was a suspect in her murder — to have Ashley joyfully exclaim how much she loves candy.

Another Code R: A Journey Into Lost Memories

Recollection

  • The entire conversation Ashley and Richard has when she first gets to the campsite, while a bit uncomfortable, is filled with these.
    • Richard isn't able to pick up on why his daughter is upset, even after she said one of the reasons (he forgot to pick her up). At first he thinks that she's just tired, but when she says that it should be obvious why she's annoyed, he assumes that it's either a stomach ache or period cramps, and points her to a nearby bathroom.
    • When she talks about having to file a theft report for her stolen bag, Richard praises her for being able to do so and says he was the same age when he had to file his first theft report, earning him an unamused deadpan stare.
    • In order to avoid a fight, he changes topics and tells her to introduce herself to his colleagues, before promptly leaving to prep the grill, leaving Ashley standing alone with the most incredulous look on her face.
  • Ashley's disbelief when first talking to John Smith and witnessing his attempts to come across as a cool secret agent.
Ashley: There is no way that's your real name.
John: Is that what you think? Ahh, the look of total mistrust of adults on the fact of youth. I'll tell you this much... (does Jedi mind trick-esque gesture) I am not your enemy.
    Ashley: Um.
John: I always wanted to use that line.
Ashley: I literally could not imagine a more suspicious person if I tried.
  • Richard's confusion at Ashley trying to pass off her saying that he's "not normal" as a compliment, which is immediately followed by Ashley's indignance at Matthew commenting on how similar she is to her dad.
  • Among the comments Ashley has about things in her father's cottage are complaining that his jackets and coats are going to lose their shape if he doesn't use a hanger, wondering if the scattered books on his bedroom floor is intentional and if he wants to keep it that way, and criticizing the brand of laundry detergent he uses (but she is proud he's doing his own laundry). In the case of the last thing, even the objective flavor text shares her assessment of the soap and calls it an "inferior" brand.
  • During Elizabeth and Ashley's heart-to-heart, the former talks about why she doesn't like the idea of Sofia becoming her stepmother. The first thing she notes is that Sofia is a drama queen; Ashely notes that sounds rough, before mentally backspacing and thinking to herself that Elizabeth doesn't really has any room to talk in that regard. She also doesn't hide this thought every well, as Elizabeth immediately questions why Ashley is looking at her so strangely.
  • At Richard's work desk in J.C. Valley, among the various photos scattered around is a candid picture taken by Jessica of a half-awake Ashley with bedhead, drowsily brushing her teeth. He even has it framed.
Ashley: Where the heck did this photo come from?
  • When you return to his lab later, with him in tow, you find that one of his drawers is so full of chocolate bars that even the objective flavor text is taken aback. Ashley immediately starts harping at her dad for using chocolate as a meal replacement again.
