Fridge / Splatterhouse

Fridge Brilliance

  • The rooms full of meat clinging to the walls (along with boreworms) in the original Splatterhouse might seem like a standard over-the-top gory setting, especially once you start wondering how all of the meat would have gotten there in the first place. Then you get to the second last level of the game and realise that the meat in the previous levels had not been brought there from elsewhere; it was actually part of the house's ecosystem all along!
  • Splatterhouse 3 is the only game in the original trilogy to lack one last post-credits scare. Makes sense, considering that one way or another, it's the end of the original Rick's story.

Fridge Horror

  • It's bad enough that the West Mansion is a possessed hellhole that burned down alongside the surrounding area at the end of the first game, but then Rick goes back in the second. The result is that there's numerous abominations, some familiar and some brand new, still going around and eating things and even eachother. Until he returns to save Jennifer, the entire region was a no man's land of monsters and hauntings in between games, likely killing any unfortunate souls that came to investigate on their own accord.
