Fridge Brilliance

  • Adam may see some of himself in Reki, reminding him of a time when he was younger and didn't have to take life so seriously. This is likely another reason why he lashes out at Reki the most, as his adult life has left him hollow and angry, wanting to destroy someone else's enjoyment of something he once cherished. Even more so when Reki, despite being leagues below Adam in terms of skill still gets the praise and love from his friends and S even when he loses against Adam during their second beef. Adam on the other hand, is forced to be the "perfect" person under his aunt's influence and in front of the public, which in turn leaves him the most alone, even when he wins against Reki in their second beef.
  • At the start of the first episode, most of the main characters desires of "happiness" are shown, but Shadow's and Tadashi's isn't. We find out later Shadow's happiness is in the manager and his job. He pretty much has achieved his "happiness" aside from actually asking his manager out on a proper date. Tadashi's happiness is also implied where he goes to retrieve Adam's skateboard he keeps in a locker, showing his happiness is serving Adam and looking out for him.
  • Some may wonder why or how Langa would know next to nothing about skateboarding. Well, given he lived in Canada, the fact that snowboarding seems to be one of his main interests and he's usually off in his own world. Unless it was something related to any of those interests, Langa likely didn't pay anything else much mind.
  • Why does Adam touch his backside when he's left stunned by Langa? That's where Langa pushed off in order to jump over Adam to avoid the Love Hug.
  • Cherry in his high school years seemed to be more daring and willing to take risks when skating. However in adulthood, he becomes more of a technician while Joe is more of the performer. This is likely because Adam didn't see Joe and Cherry as equals anymore after he left them, causing Cherry to feel resentful and strive for perfection to prove Adam wrong over the years.
    • When they start their race, Cherry is the only person shown thus far to be able to keep up with Adam at the start. This is likely due to all the research he's poured into trying to match Adam, especially earlier when he checks with Carla who says he got the exact same time as Adam for the qualifiers.
  • While Tadashi taking Reki to a love hotel seems like set up for the humorous misunderstandings, love hotels are very discreet about their customers than normal hotels and it's likely all that Tadashi could get on a moment's notice without drawing too much attention to his current predicament. Mainly, accidentally hitting a teen with his car.
  • The title for episode 11 could easily be referring to Adam VS Reki for their upcoming beef. However afterwards, when Reki loses to Adam, he still manages to get the respect of the S community who cheer for him instead. Adam was also humiliated during their beef, leading him to quickly become the "nobody" while Reki becomes the "king".
  • While some may have been disappointed that Reki and Langa are never shown actually racing against one another, the two have already worked out their problems together and not only see each other as equals, but also understand the reason why they skate. As this tumblr post put it, "the purest acts of love are not for the consumption of others.”

Fridge Horror

  • How many people has Adam sent to the hospital while skating at S? It's shown in a flashback when he, Cherry and Joe are all still teens, his sadistic side started to become more apparent. Shadow tells Miya he'd need all of his fingers and toes just to count, but what if there are even more who Shadow and the rest of S weren't privy to see?
    • Cherry and Joe eventually checked in on Adam because the rumors were likely getting that bad, but it's obvious they weren't able to help the others before.
  • Tadashi knocks Reki out before taking him to a love hotel so they can talk in private. So did none of the staff members ask any questions when a grown man showed up with a teenage boy who was unconscious? Thank goodness Tadashi really did just want to talk...
    • Given Tadashi's connections to Adam, a powerful politician, it's very possible he was able to pay the staff off or otherwise used his position to keep them quiet. Which is actually worse in a way.
    • Love hotels in Japan generally don't have a front desk staff and getting a room is done discreetly.
