Fridge Brilliance

  • The Bubble Lead seems like the least effective weapon overall, but against the final boss of the game, Wily morphed into an alien, it's amazingly effective. Which makes sense when you think about it; Alien-Wily is nothing more than a hologram; yet another one of Wily's machines. What better way to destroy a machine than to douse it with water?
  • I always wondered why Flash Man had an ice stage and time-stopping powers. Then I realized: CAMERA flash! His time-stopping is him making a photographic still of his surroundings!
  • Quickman will run into the walls as he tries to charge at Megaman. His body is moving so quickly that his programming is having trouble keeping up.
  • Metalman was the first robot master Wily built by himself. He was probably still figuring out some of the kinks, which is why Metalman takes more damage from the Megabuster and his own metal blades.

Fridge Horror

  • The ending can have some depressing tones depending on how you interpret it. We know that the original game did not sell well, and the series future was riding on this one. Given the situation, the developers made the ending ambiguous. If this had been the final game, we’d be looking at the ending very differently. We don’t see exactly what happened between Megaman and Dr. Wily after the final battle. The image of Megaman’s helmet on the hill is reminiscent of a Samurai being beheaded. Combined with the somber music, and having destroyed 14 of his own kind by this point, Megaman may have given in to grief.
