    Fridge Brilliance
  • Some have pointed out that the parrots aboard Captain Trinkett's ship could've easily saved him, considering their combined strength was able to raise an entire grandfather clock, while also flying all the way to Madame's home. However, it makes more sense when one remembers the classic phrase of "A captain always goes down with the ship." Extra Brilliance comes in when one remembers that that Captain Trinkett blamed his pride for his demise and separation from Madame Trinkett. In essence, every aspect of his seafaring life kept him from his love, even up to his own demise.
  • Many of the Salesman’s odd behaviors, including his frequent use of puns and wordplay, his upbeat attitude, and even his attempts to downplay the killing of Clayton by calling it a “sacrifice” rather than a murder makes sense if you view it as a darkly comedic parody of a typical door-to-door salesman; Friendly, sociable, and even helpful on the surface, but ultimately just trying to get what they want, often at the expense of others.
  • It can come off as a bit odd that even the police don't seem to know the name of The Salesman. However, it's heavily implied by The Trial of Cooper that The Salesman has absolutely no-one on the outside who cares about him. It'd be hard to get the name down of someone nobody knows.
  • A multitude of unethical things done by adults in this series, such as the uncaring way the orphanage conducts itself,The Salesman's Serial Killer tendencies, or even something as minor as Carole damaging police property going completely unpunished makes sense when one factors in the sheer inefficiency of the local police force, as made clear by the last two episodes.
  • The Salesman repeated the line about his father looking just like him near the end of The Trial of Cooper can come off as a bit odd, considering that the focus has shifted from The Salesman's father to Cooper's "friend request." However, reading between the lines, it becomes clear that's he's not referring to his father anymore; He's referring to Cooper. Essentially, The Salesman's realized that, despite him and Cooper having similar backgrounds, Cooper still manages to be a good person, a realization that firmly and definitely cements his Heel–Face Turn.

    Fridge Horror
  • The Salesman asking Cooper who’s skull he found upon reaching the original basement in Tunnel Vision initially seems like the typical off-beat, slightly dark humor present throughout this series. However, with the revelation that the Salesman apparently routinely sacrifices orphans, combined with the disposing of Clayton’s body not being elaborated on, it makes one wonder if all of those bones belonged to crows...
  • The fact that Saltrot Joe was with his mother when he was abducted raises so many implications. Either Saltrot's mother was somehow abducted as well, leaving her with the Salesman, or she just let her own child be abducted, which isn't even unlikely considering how the rest of the adults in the series act. Neither possibility would've had a good impact on Joe's psyche, and it can make his more goofy antics a lot less funny.
  • According to Circle, Saltrot Joe has been wearing the exact same sailor costume for three years.
  • It's understated in the series itself, and the viewer might grow accustomed to it over time, but what exactly is the deal with those parrots? It's clear they have sentience, bordering on sapience, and are capable of malicious intent, it's just never established why.
  • It is established in Welcome to Madame Trinkett's that the orphanage Cooper attends is run by the state. Considering what Cooper's home is like, either the state is horrifically incompetent, or everything Carlos T. Nice's does is perfectly legal.
    • On that note, it is mentioned by the Director Living Live Underground that Cooper might be hiding in the walls for warmth. It's a bit of Comedic Sociopathy on the surface, but while the Director is cruel, he isn't stupid. He'd have no reason to believe that unless someone had done it before.
