Fridge Brilliance

  • Despite everyone else poking fun at Mark Beaks for his harmlessness, this episode seems to hint at his hidden threat to Scrooge's overall success. He's not a dedicated hunter in treasure or theft like the Beagles or Glomgold, but this episode shows that Scrooge is HORRIBLE at being able to shape public perception of himself. And unlike in the comic books, Scrooge here isn't thick skinned enough to not care. As someone who knows how to work perception to his advantage, this episode is a demonstration of what Mark could do in the future to Scrooge. Trapping him in front of the cameras in a way Scrooge might not be able to respond to wisely.
    • The triplets, pre-teens who are very hip and adept at navigating social media, can serve as the perfect counter to Scrooge's unfamiliarity with it. Dewey (who already hosts his own "talk show") would be exceptionally helpful at this.
  • It actually does make sense for there to be public outcry over the damage that Scrooge causes with his adventures. Given he was retired up to what would have to be a few months ago in-universe the citizens of Duckburg would not be prepared for the fallout that Scrooge leaves in the wake of his escapades.
  • Scrooge's initial lack of concern over a poor public image makes sense when you remember that he essentially owns Duckburg (technically he just rents the land it's built on to the city but same deal at the end of the day). It's not like anyone can actually do anything to him over it so why care in his eyes.
  • Some might be taken aback by Roxanne's more jerkish appearance, where she seems dead set on producing interesting news over getting the truth, at the expense of Scrooge's image. However, we do see hints of this in the pilot movie. When Scrooge comes in with the real lost jewel of Atlantis, you can hear the slight smug tone in her voice as she calls Glomgold "one of those other billionaire ducks". The only reason why it's more controversial here is due to her having an expanded role, unlike with how she only appeared near the end of the pilot.
  • Magica getting upset that Lena calls Tiffany a monster and telling her to show the shark some respect gets an additional layer after The Reveal in the Season 1 finale: Lena is also a magical construct, not so different from Tiffany.

Fridge Horror

  • Back in "The Great Dime Chase!", Scrooge tells Louie not to dive into the money bin, because it's solid gold and he'd crack his skull open if he tried. Here, the kids go for a midnight swim to the money bin, and Dewey takes a leap into it (with a corkscrew move apparently). If the money shark didn't show up and swallow him mid-jump, would he have ended up with broken bones, or worse, dead?
  • Magica knows exactly where the #1 Dime is now. And she's probably not above getting Scrooge out of the way before she gets her hands on it.
